I was born in 1978, in Fortaleza (in the Northeast of Brazil).

My adolescence was marked by 80s glamazonian aesthetic: Tina Turner (in her album Private Dancer), her outfits by Azzedine Alaïa, Helmut Newton photographs, Grace Jones, Brigitte Nielsen, Patrick Nagel illustrations, Thierry Mugler and Claude Montana runaway shows. In that period, circa 1984, I started drawing feet with very curved insteps on extremely high heels, because I thought that’s what gave “magical powers” to those sexy and powerful women.

In the 90s, I also started wearing very high heels. I was mesmerized with the feeling of power that they give you. They transport you to another reality and give you a new perspective. As Sonia Rykiel once asked: – “How can you live a higher life if you do not wear the highest heels?”. But one thing always bothers me: the narrow last they use to make high heels shoes. So, I started making my own shoes. I bought old shoes, tore all the components apart to see how they were made, and reproduced them with a wider fit.

By the end of the 90s I had 170 pairs.

After 24 years of experience designing shoes, I decided to create my own brand. I named it VivaaH (cf. vivá) which, in native Brazilian language, Tupi-Guarani, means “Strong as Nature”. It is a line of luxury inclusive shoes, all handmade in Spain, with large sizes and wider soles going beyond the regular female’s shoe fit. VivaaH Viana’s models are all timeless shapes, made-to-order to handcraft the perfect pair, skipping the idea of collections or the succession of the seasons.

My goal is to create models that live beyond the idea of trends.
